Lynne Haney
Lynne Haney is Professor of Sociology at New York University, where she also directs the Law and Society Undergraduate Program. A product of the University of California system, she received her Ph.D. in Sociology from UC Berkeley and BA from UC San Diego. She has published several award-winning books and articles in gender studies, punishment and law, and political sociology. She is currently an Honorary Professor at the Gender Studies Institute at the University of South Africa. She lives in Brooklyn, New York with her son, Tristan, and dog, Louie.
Her most recent book, Prisons of Debt, is an ethnographic study of the hidden injustices that trap formerly incarcerated fathers in cycles of punishment and debt.
